Happy Birthday Alice Rosalie Fehlhaber

Alice Rosalie Fehlhaber (1880-1970)

Alice Rosalie Fehlhaber was born on 10 Sep 1880 in the Town of Berlin, Marathon, Wisconsin as the fifth child of Carl F. Fehlhaber and Emilie Friedericke Luise Draeger. She had six siblings, namely: Mathilde A. Emilie, Emma Wilhelmine Maria, Carl Fredrich Henre, Maria Pauline Louise, Laura, and Robert Edward O. Her parents were immigrants to Wisconsin from Germany. Alice grew up on a farm in near the Town of Berlin in Marathon County, Wisconsin.

When she was 22, Alice married Frederick A Helmut Aschbrenner, son of Frederick Wilhelm Aschbrenner and Bertha Auguste Henriette Kluender, on 26 Nov 1902 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Berlin, Marathon, Wisconsin.

Frederick A Helmut Aschbrenner and Alice Rosalie Fehlhaber had the following children:

  1. Selma “Sally” Cornelia Aschbrenner was born on 07 May 1904 in Berlin, Marathon, Wisconsin. She married Norman Arthur August Krueger on 11 Nov 1933 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She died on 15 May 1983 in Wausau, Marathon, Wisconsin.
  2. Frederick Carl Aschbrenner was born on 25 Jan 1909 in Wausau, Marathon, Wisconsin. He married Sadie H. Heise on 26 Sep 1931 in Wausau, Marathon, Wisconsin. He died on 11 Feb 1936 in Wausau, Marathon, Wisconsin.

Alice and Fred farmed near the Town of Berlin in Marathon County, Wisconsin for most of their lives. Later, they moved into the town of Wausau, Marathon, Wisconsin. As was discussed when we wished Alice’s husband, Fred, a happy birthday a month ago, their son passed away suddenly when he was a young man of only 27-years old and their daughter contracted Parkinson’s disease. Without a son to take over the farm, the move to town made sense. For many years, they shared their home in Wausau with their daughter, Sally; son-in-law, Norman; and grandsons, Jim and Chuck.

When the pickled herring comes out during the holidays at Krueger celebrations, the Aschbrenners can be remembered. Alice left a recipe for picked herring that one of her great-grandsons thinks we should try someday. (…but that might not ever happen…)
